Was delivered on time. Gave it to one of my sons for Christmas and one in another color for another son. This one did not work and my son was very upset, because his brothers worked, and his didn't. They are very cool. Just extremely disappointed that it didn't work.

When I ordered this charger and batteries I expected a six week wait before delivery. Got them in two weeks. Good so far. When I tried to charge the batteries they would not stay connected. I had to apply a good bit of pressure until the connectors made a slight click before the connections were secure. The batteries charged in about 90 minutes. The next issue came when I tried to disconnect the batteries from the charger. Three disconnected without too much difficulty, but the fouth one required a pair of plyers to remove. I had to be careful not to pull the wires out of the connectors.

Testing the batteries.....Normally I get about 7 minutes of flight time with the stock 500 mAh battery. Hovering I was able to get 10 minutes with the 600 mAh batteries.

The charger is cheap by any standard. It is convenient to be able to charge 4 batteries at the same time, but I would be willing to pay more for something of better quality.

The batteries each had a bar code sticker on them. I had to remove the stickers and clean the adhesive off the batteries before they would fit easily into the battery slot. The wires on the batteries are about 1/3 shorter than the stock battery making it awkward to plug the connector in.

Summary: Knowing what I know now I would not buy the charger alone. It is cheap quality and I suspect it will have a short life if it is not handled gently. I gave a three star rating because the batteries seem to be an improvement over the stock battery, but the shorter wires make them difficult to connect in the quad. Also, the bar code stickers are just a nuisance. If you manage to intall the battery with the sticker in place it takes an act of congress to get the battery back out. I would highly recommend removing them before trying to install the battery into the quad.

Would I recomment this product? Yes, but with reservations. The batteries were my main interest and I saw the charger as a bonus. I figure I got what I paid for and would probably purchase this combo again.

I really wanted to like this, but it was a waste of my money. "How can a battery fall apart?" you may ask. I agree. How is this possible? As you can almost see in its photo, there are white stripes running along the battery. Those stripes are in the tape that holds the wires to the battery's housing. It came with the tape partially up. I pressed it down with my fingers, assuming that would hold it. However, after using the battery for a run or two in my quadcopter, the black wire has come out. The battery is no longer working. I tried to take apart the tape and wiggle the wires back into place to re-secure them, but the wire would have to be soldered back into place. Really, that's not what I was hoping for when I bought this. I shouldn't have to troubleshoot and reassemble a battery after only a couple of runs. Poor assembly on the part of the manufacturer.

I practiced and practiced on this quadcopter and could never get very good at it. My video game playing thirteen year-old picked it up and put me to shame. I guess video games are good for something.

He has excellent control. It doesn't fly wildly unless he wants it to. He can make it hover like a hummingbird. He can walk behind it and follow. It looks like some sort of droid out of "Star Wars."

The kit comes with replacement propellers and an extra battery. Pay attention to the markings. All the propellers aren't the same. If you replace them with the wrong one, your quadcopter won't fly. I recommend the Crash Pack, or at least buy more propellers. Everything is durable, but the propellers break easily. If you're like me, you'll need a lot. If you're like my son, you won't need many.

The controller is more advanced than another quadcopter we own. We can adjust sensitivity or put it in expert mode. My son hasn't tried expert mode yet. I think he should. He's so amazing with it.

This is too difficult for young children to fly, or even old persons like me. Video game addicts will have the easiest time. Give it to your teenage kid.

NOTE: My kit did not come with a blade guard.

This is a great precise flyer. The main problem I had was that I didn't know this thing calibrated it's gyro everytime on start up right after you press the left stick up then down.. I was keeping the unit in my hand at first upon starting and I was slamming walls like crazy and was verrryy disappointed in this purchase. I began setting it on the table on startup and wamo this thing hovers perfectly. I was under the impression that I had to manually calibrate it but I think the makers wised up. I like it auto calibrating everytime.

I have several of these mini drones. Husban x4, syma x11, x12, Ominus, proto x, and a few misc. micro drones that fall under several names. The M68R is an excellent, steady flyer. The new headless mode works like a charm and allows beginners to have a lot of fun without having to worry about the orientation of the quadcopter. This quadcopter has one of the fastests recoveries for 360 degree flips. Most quadcopter drop down 3+ feet after a flip to regain altitude, the M68R looks as it barley goes down a foot! The video quality is between 480-720p in my opinion but way better than other quadcopter I have seen of this size. The M68R feels super light weight but still flies well in windy weather. I have wrecked it a few times and do not see any damage. I was testing range and the battery went low and died before I got it back and dropped from over 100 ft. When the battery died in mid air, the quadcopter drifted slowly to the ground using it's propellers as resistance. Once again, no damage. I would def. recommend this quadcopter!!

My first impressions

The packaging is simple but the wire holding the helicopter to the packaging can be a little annoying. Nonetheless the helicopter comes assembled so all you need to do is add batteries (6x AA) to the remote controller and in my case I turned the helicopter to the (On) position and it started right up.

This is a 3 Channel Remote Controlled device meaning that you control 3 functions of the helicopter. This is sufficient because it allows you to control lift (up/down), yaw (left/right) and pitch (forward/backward).

I got to observe how the helicopter functions. While knowing already the properties of real helicopters I was curious why RC Helicopters were designed in such a way. The blades collapse freely which helps with protecting them from damage in the event they come in contact with something and the momentum of the motor keeps them extended when operating. The reason for two tier bladed design is to allow the Helicopter to yaw (rotate left/right) by speeding up one set of blades or the other. The knob on the controller also helps trim this function so that the helicopter won't rotate undesirably when flying. The tail rotor which in a typical helicopter helps overcome the rotational force of the main rotor, but in the RC Helicopter it allows the pitch (forward/backward movement). The weighted bar on the very top of the blades balances the helicopter so that it stays level and right-side up.

The construction of this is rather sturdy and for the price I paid ($13 Amazon Warehouse deal) I have no complaints what so ever. This is a fun toy and interesting to play around with. Learning how it flies will result in several crashes but even after some hard hits all I needed to do was adjust the skid (landing gear) because it was a little bent. Replacement parts seem to be widely available and the helicopter does come with 1 spare rear rotor blade. Battery replacements will require some soldering.

I was able to get about 2 minutes of flight time (and crashes) on the pre-charged battery which was a nice little treat. Charging time indicates 45-50 minutes and despite all the colorful lights the helicopter makes when plugged in and having the helicopter (On), it will NOT charge unless the helicopter is turned to the (Off) position. The USB light indicator will turn (on) when the helicopter is fully charged. For the price this is an easy buy for anyone who is into RC stuff and helicopters and you don't have to feel guilty about the price being so low because it's pretty well made.

Flight tips:

Pre-flight checks: Before taking off allow the blades to spin enough to where the helicopter won't lift but you can see whether or not it is rotating left or right. Make your adjustments to the trim knob accordingly until the helicopter remains stable and doesn't rotate. Proceed to fly but you may need to adjust the trim knob during flight as the power levels go down on the battery.

Small adjustments: The adjustments are very sensitive so naturally you will want to over correct when you feel you cannot control it properly. With time and practice you will notice how easily maneuverable and responsive that this RC Helicopter is.

Rotor wash: This is something to be aware of when in close proximity to the ground or an object. The rotors create a downward thrust which gives it lift but when close to an object or the floor this thrust is reflected back up into the blades which can give it unstable characteristics. If trying to challenge yourself and perform landings on various precise locations it's important make very small adjustments and descend gradually.

More than a dozen flights under my belt this helicopter will remain in the air for roughly 4-7 minutes. I haven't had any luck trying to cargo-lift objects so it doesn't have enough thrust I imagine. The Syma S107C Spycam 3.5 Channel RC Helicopter with Gyro (Colors May Vary) I suspect has a more powerful motor which enables it to carry the camera it comes with. Charging time is right around 50 minutes and I use one of those AC USB wall plugs that smart phones typically come with now days as opposed to a computer with no adverse effects. Smacking into the corners of walls, bouncing off cabinets, tumbling to the ground from a 4-5ft drop has done little to scar this helicopter. The landing gear might need a little adjusting from time to time and the blades show very minimal wear considering the abuse. A very well made birthday or christmas gift in my opinion and at this price point you cannot go wrong.

CUSTOMER REVIEW

Ok guys. I didn't read ALL 80ish comments there were on the product by the time I bought it, so I'm not sure if the solution I'm writing here has been mentioned by someone else before.

That aside, let me begin. The charger works PERFECTLY FINE. I had all the problems I read in a few reviews, but as an electronic engineer, my first reaction before returning the product was to open it and figure out how it worked and why it wasn't working properly. Let me tell you something, the only defect this product has is not including a manual (for a charger? you kidding me right?). Allow me to explain:

1) Connectors: Just like most people commenting on this product, the first thing I realized was how flimsy the charger feels, and how the connectors won't fit. WRONG. All you need to do is push them all the way to the bottom, until they "click". Don't worry. After opening it myself, I saw how they are fixed to the plastic case and no matter how hard you push 'em, they won't break or anything.

2) Flickering LEDs: The circuit itself is quite simple once you analyze it. Instead of going through unnecessary technical stuff, here's what you need to know. The LEDs WILL turn on for less than half a second when you plug the charger to your USB source. That's perfectly normal. When you start connecting batteries to it, the LED corresponding to the slot you're connecting (and usually LEDs on other slots, even when nothing is connected) will flicker. Bear with me for a minute. 4 components in the circuit need to be saturated before normal operation. When plugging in a battery, you're actually putting a load in the circuit, creating current pikes that may light up other LEDs "randomly". Trust me, it's not affecting the battery, the charger, or your computer or whatever you plug this in.

3) More flickering / no charge: After several tests with plugging charged and uncharged batteries, combining them and so, I realized the charger was not lighting up the proper LEDs, or it was lighting up all 4 even with 4 batteries connected. The reason? The current supplied by your USB device. I tested a USB hub with different current ratings I have, and guess what? This charger will seem to operate "erratically" when plugged to a high current host. The solution? Connect it to a low current wall charger / pc slot. The simples way to find out that is this: Can your charger charge tablets? Can it charge other "big gadgets"? If it can, then don't use it with this charger. Look for a cheap iPhone wall plug (Make sure it's not for iPad. They ARE different, even if they look the same size).

4) Connectors too tight: Yeah, When you insert the cable ALL THE WAY IN, it's a little hard to disconnect it. Well, the first few times only. Trust me. All you need to do is grab the tip of the cable with your fingers AND the battery in the palm of your hand, and gently pull both at the same time, avoiding to stretch the cable. After a few times, the connector will get softer and it will become just as easy to disconnect them from your X4.

Is it perfect? No. Is it dirt cheap for what it does? Yes. Keep in mind the RC world is mostly a DIY hobby. If this is your first experience with this kind of stuff, don't get frustrated. Not like you had to do some soldering or anything to get it to work. Just follow these simple steps I mention, and you'll soon be very happy for purchasing this charger.

I include a picture of how the connectors look when properly plugged in. All LEDs are off except one because three batteries have been fully charged.

Happy flying!

CUSTOMER REVIEW

review

The best flying toy in my collection so far ( a bunch of expensive heli's and a couple of quads )

No instructions in ANY language included. Look online or learn on a SYMA X-1 quad. Box came early from China but was beat-up. Fortunately this is a tough little quad !

IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCED - you will be OK without the blade guards ( which are a nuisance and add weight ). Otherwise learn with incremental progress - and no regrets.

A tip: put a strip of brightly colored tape or paper on the back of the body of the quad so you can see the orientation from a distance. It gets very small very fast when it is high and the wind is taking it away. Knowing how it is pointed may be the last chance to bring it back " ;-( "

The Camera - comes with 2GB Micro-SD with proof-pictures from the factory in China. Way Cool !

The camera is made to still frame / video using the UP-DOWN TRIM control on the LEFT SIDE of the controller. There ! .. .. .. I just saved you the pain of sending back a "broken" camera ! After the controller is linked - look at the light on the bottom of the camera. Green is "ready". Push the trim UP to take one frame ( one RED blink ) Push the trim DOWN to start video ( periodic, continuing RED blinking ) Push a second time to stop video and save file ! ( stop the video - don't just kill the power ! )

IF YOU WANT CORRECT TIME STAMPS ON YOUR CAPTURE FILES - here's the secret. You won't find this anywhere else - so be generous with your thanks !

Use notepad or other text editor. create a file on the micro-SD card named "time.txt" with the content ( on one line ) and WITHOUT the quotes ! "yyyy/mm/dd hh.mm.ss" example: "2014/10/23 21.10.00" and one carriage return

then save the file. This file will set the camera's clock - for as long as the X5C is powered ON.

So maybe it's a little under-powered and we'd like more flight time. This little ( TOY ) quad is a fantastic value, fun to fly, takes ( FUN ) pictures that you'll love better than your buddy's GoPro and $ 800 quad. Because it's not the size of the boat, but the motion of the ocean that matters.

Since this little beast LOOKS LIKE A DRONE - and folks can't tell that it's just a little flying toy - you might want to be careful where you fly it. Like not over your neighbor's swimming pool or outside their second - story window. On the plus side - it is small enough to hide under your shirt when the cops come.

This is a new release from SYMA and not always available. AMAZON sellers are the most reliable and least likely to disappoint. Folks who worry alot should look for a USA shipper ( if possible ) and many well-rated transactions.

I liked my seller - who delivered very fast and whom I gave FIVE STARS ( hoping they will box stuff better for the long trip from LongGang, Shenzhen, China to Miami, Florida, USA via "Small Packet By AIR" )

Ya' know - I almost wish I bought two of these things. I coulda made a friend very happy.

( note added 11/2014 - i did buy a second SYMA X-5C - after I learned about wind and needing the colored tape )

( note added 12/28/2014 - AIN'T A ROLEX - but an amazing toy - After being called down by owners of multi-thousand-dollar GoPro 4 plus DJI S800 w/ DJI Wookong-M autopilot + 3-Axis Gimbal setups ( check prices on Amazon ) I still think this is great fun - and the pix are just fine for a sixty-buck instrument - I hope you are happy with YOURS )

Plz comment my review if i saved you some grief !

This is a great flying little quad, although it has been fairly windy since this has been delivered I have still enjoyed it, it does fair in light wind but it is a very light little machine and a gust of wind will pick it up and carry it away fairly quickly, It's a tough little bird though, I hung it up in a tree yesterday and instead of freaking out I looked and saw how it was hooked to the tree then I flew it right off the branch fairly easily, then instead of getting hung up even further up the tree I let it fall the rest of the way down, it smacked just about every branch on the way down and really don't even have a scratch on it.

The camera is a fairly decent little camera although I upgraded the MicroSD card fairly quickly, the 1gig card fills up pretty quick. I use a USB cable to copy the video files to my computer instead of taking the SD out every time I'm sure taking the card in and out so much will wear it out fairly quick.

The remote is great, it feels comfortable in hand and has digital trim settings and a digital readout showing throttle setting, remote battery life, trim settings, camera settings, etc, it also has the 360 inversion button you can tap to make the quad do flips, be sure to have some altitude before doing this a be ready to hit the throttle again to keep the quad from hitting the ground, you can also use the top left button for this, press it and when it starts beeping you can tap you rudder controls up, down, left, or right ta make it flip in the direction you like, this is a little more fun than just the 360 inversion.

Other than that there is not much more I can say about this Quad other than I love it, I do plan on building my own quad in the future and this is giving me some great training on the physics of a quad and how to fly one.

Let me add that some proper care an manteinence of your LiPO batteries will make them last long, There are many videos on Youtube on proper care of your batteries but here are some tips.

* Your batteries will come from the factory charged, but not fully, Charge them fully before flying.

* Do not run your battery down all the way, leave about 20% power in the battery, you can purchase voltage alarms that will buzz at a specified

voltage.

* after flying wait about 15 minutes for battery to cool down before re-charging.

* when putting batteries up for storage do not fully charge them, charge them about 80%.

It is completely misleading and misrepresented. The product description shows that "Product Dimensions: 17.8 x 7.4 x 3.2 inches" but it is a miniature size only 7.5 inches x 4 inches. The dimension of the box is 16 inches x 5.1/4 inches x 3 inches.

The picture shows that is nice and made of metal/aluminum, but this helicopter that I received was made of cheap plastic, the remote control is very poorly made. Sadly it is sold and ships by Amazon.com. Amazon is losing its track!!!. I ordered another one which was sold by Ahero-RC and the color was yellow, that one was well constructed, made of metal/aluminum, but the dimension was still wrong/lie/misleading/misrepresented/tricky…
