review

I am a dedicated flyboy and subscribe to the all the RC helicopter magazines. I have built my own "large scale" multirotors including a 700mm Hexcopter. I say this so you know that I consider this a serious hobby and I have a lot of experience in it.

This is the smallest and one of the most fun multirotors I've every played with. It's 2"x2" and flies WAY better than you'd expect anything that size has a right to. The gyro keeps it very stable yet it's very quick when you press on the sticks.

The controller is a full 4 channel 2.4ghz digital radio transmitter. This is not some cheap infrared transmitter that you can't use with the blinds up. It responds quickly to the controls and there is a "trim" option on the right stick (Though with the gyro you'll actually never want to use that.) The sticks are very stiff, but with a bit of working them in you should be able to loosen them up.

Flight time is about 4-6 minutes and charge time is about 40 minutes with the included USB charger. There is no removable or replaceable battery so you can't swap batteries to keep flying. However, anyone with soldering experience could modify it for a micro li-po battery such as used in the M-cPX enabling you to dramatically increase flight opportunities. (Do not try this if you're not sure you're capable of it because Li-pos can be dangerous.)

It has some very bright LEDs to provide orientation. Red in the back and Blue in the front. They also serve to warn you of dead batteries and will flash when it's time to land.

Some Caveats:

This is a toy, there are no replacement parts available, when you break it (and trust me, even complete pros will eventually) your only option is to buy a whole new one. The arms holding the motors are part of the main circuit board and are not replaceable or repairable if you damage them.

It's for indoor use only. You cannot take something this size outside and expect it to be in any way reliable.

While this is a toy, it's not for children. I'd put the minimum age for this at 13. Period. This is not something to buy for a 6 year old, as it wont last more than a day in their hands.

Finally, the transmitter requires 2 AAA batteries which are not included in the box. Make sure you include batteries if giving it as a gift.

Update:

Almost 4 months into owning this wonderful little quadcopter, I finally experienced a crash bad enough to damage it. After the crash, the board was bent. I very carefully bent it back and it still flies. The attached LED however no longer works and it does have a slight spin that wasn't there before. That said, it's still one of my favorite quads and I still love it. I just wish even more than I could get replacement parts of it. Still recommended and I do not change my opinion one bit since I knew going in that eventually this would happen. 4 months without replacement parts is very good for anything that flies.

This is a great flying little quad, although it has been fairly windy since this has been delivered I have still enjoyed it, it does fair in light wind but it is a very light little machine and a gust of wind will pick it up and carry it away fairly quickly, It's a tough little bird though, I hung it up in a tree yesterday and instead of freaking out I looked and saw how it was hooked to the tree then I flew it right off the branch fairly easily, then instead of getting hung up even further up the tree I let it fall the rest of the way down, it smacked just about every branch on the way down and really don't even have a scratch on it.

The camera is a fairly decent little camera although I upgraded the MicroSD card fairly quickly, the 1gig card fills up pretty quick. I use a USB cable to copy the video files to my computer instead of taking the SD out every time I'm sure taking the card in and out so much will wear it out fairly quick.

The remote is great, it feels comfortable in hand and has digital trim settings and a digital readout showing throttle setting, remote battery life, trim settings, camera settings, etc, it also has the 360 inversion button you can tap to make the quad do flips, be sure to have some altitude before doing this a be ready to hit the throttle again to keep the quad from hitting the ground, you can also use the top left button for this, press it and when it starts beeping you can tap you rudder controls up, down, left, or right ta make it flip in the direction you like, this is a little more fun than just the 360 inversion.

Other than that there is not much more I can say about this Quad other than I love it, I do plan on building my own quad in the future and this is giving me some great training on the physics of a quad and how to fly one.

Let me add that some proper care an manteinence of your LiPO batteries will make them last long, There are many videos on Youtube on proper care of your batteries but here are some tips.

* Your batteries will come from the factory charged, but not fully, Charge them fully before flying.

* Do not run your battery down all the way, leave about 20% power in the battery, you can purchase voltage alarms that will buzz at a specified

voltage.

* after flying wait about 15 minutes for battery to cool down before re-charging.

* when putting batteries up for storage do not fully charge them, charge them about 80%.

** UPDATE **

12/18/2013 - A much as I hate to say because I enjoy this little quad, the left rear motor is burnt out and the quad will not fly anymore, I could replace the motor but I believe that at the pricemark that these quads are priced the motors should last longer than this So I am shipping it back for a refund, I hate that I have to do this because it was a fun little copter to fly... I'll take away one star from my review because I really

did enjoy this quad.

I will update this review in a month or so to let you know how everything is going.

These jars are even prettier in-person! More of a deep peacock blue than the very light blue show in these pictures, they are gorgeous and perfectly suited for any use - drinking glasses, small flower vases, and canning of course.

However, Amazon is charging WAY too much for these! I found mine at my local Ace Hardware for $9.99 per set of six. Not sure why Amazon's price is so much higher when they're usually cheaper than everyone else. Maybe the packaging needed to keep them intact for shipping?

If you're interested in these great jars, I do recommend going to Ace though, purely for the price difference.

CUSTOMER REVIEW

review

Its about 9.5 inches from blade to blade. Uses a 3.7v 500mah lipo battery.

I highly recommend buy extra batteries because these this qcopter is fun. Decided to buy one at the local hobby shop for 59.99 and took advantage of a 10% one day deal. Comes with extra blades, rtf, does 3D with precision, amazing acrobatics at full speed once you have full control of 4 channel transmitter.

One word of caution, like with any Qcopter, because it looks the same from all side, make a note of its direction. Remember if you move left and it goes to the right then its coming towards you. It gets tricky when its flying left or right and not very aware if its flying away by gusts or winds or coming towards you.

It can be flown outdoors on light moderate winds, more than that and this copter will pick up altitude in a flick of an eye. You can kill power in mid air, let it drop and it will recover over a nice hover immediately. I had read it was good for outdoors, my V911 flybar heli has a fight on even the slighest wind, I am on my 3rd as I already lost two. Wanted to do some flying outdoors without breaking the bank and the EZ fly was a perfect choice.

Very durable, have crashed it a few times and have not broken any parts yet. I highly recommend to fly on a park when you are learning as it WILL go fast when hit with gusts of wind. I dont know what it is, but when it is dialed and flies like butter is like you are in the zone, almost therapeutic. It glides thru the wind smoothly, very quiet and stealth maneuvers.

I highly recommend to anyone testing the waters on quadcopters.
